The program was conducted in collaboration with the Badan Pengelola Dana Perkebunan (BPDP) to improve the quality and success potential of research proposals submitted by USU lecturers and researchers for the 2026 BPDP Research Grant Program.
The event was officially opened by LPPM USU Secretary Dr. Harmona Daulay, who emphasized the importance of active academic participation in supporting research development focused on downstream innovation and practical benefits for industry and society.
The session continued with a presentation by Dr. Jenny Elisabeth, who discussed the BPDP Research Grant Program and proper proposal writing guidelines. She explained that BPDP research priorities include oil palm, coconut, and cocoa commodities, covering areas such as productivity improvement, sustainability, bioenergy, biomaterials, downstream industry development, environmental issues, and the circular economy.
In addition, M. Feri Desfri provided a technical explanation regarding proposal submission mechanisms, selection processes, administrative requirements, and funding distribution procedures. The session aimed to help researchers prepare proposals more systematically and in accordance with program regulations.
The discussion and Q&A session took place interactively with enthusiastic participation from attendees, who were also encouraged to prepare draft proposals for the mentoring activities.
Through this initiative, LPPM USU hopes to increase both the quantity and quality of research proposals with strong funding potential while strengthening USU’s contribution to strategic research development in Indonesia’s plantation sector.
The event concluded at 12:00 WIB with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration between USU and BPDP in supporting innovation and sustainability within Indonesia’s plantation industry.
