LPPM USU Holds Signing of 2026 Community Service (Talenta) Contracts

Medan – LPPM USU held the signing of contracts for the 2026 Talenta Community Service Program at the LPPM USU Seminar Room, 2nd Floor, on Tuesday (May 5). The event was attended by team leaders whose community service proposals received funding for 2026. A total of 107 proposals were funded, consisting of 16 international scheme projects, 87 thematic scheme projects (covering disaster mitigation, health, economic and social issues, environment, and partnerships), and 4 student-led community service projects. In addition, contract signing was also carried out by 11 team leaders of the assisted village program.

Head of LPPM USU, Prof. Mohammad Basyuni, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., stated that this activity marks the beginning of lecturers’ community service initiatives at USU in 2026, aimed at applying science and technology for the benefit of society. He also emphasized that these activities are expected to strengthen and expand USU’s collaborations with external partners.

Furthermore, he noted that the program is expected to contribute to the achievement of USU’s sixth Key Performance Indicator (KPI), namely producing 2,000 internationally reputable publications. He also added that “this community service initiative is expected to support the achievement of KPI 7, particularly USU’s involvement in SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 17.”

Meanwhile, Secretary of LPPM USU, Dr. Harmona Daulay, S.Sos., M.Si., congratulated the team leaders on receiving the funding and reminded them to carry out the programs in accordance with the established timeline outlined in the implementation guidelines and contract documents. The implementation of the community service activities is scheduled to run from May to December 2026.
